Avoiding storm-related scam
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Homeowners are confronting flooded basements, fallen trees, and other storm-related damage following recent severe weather.
The Indiana Attorney General’s Office issued a warning that scammers are traveling from out of state to exploit residents.
“You’ll see circumstances where individuals will come from out of state and saying, ‘Oh, I saw the weather. I’m from Illinois, or I’m from Ohio, I’m from Kentucky, and I’m here to help,’” said Scott Barnhart, director of consumer protection at the Indiana Attorney General’s Office.
