State officials announced they are investigating after the body of a missing hiker was found Monday in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
Officials received the call Monday morning that a man hiking in the park had been last seen in the Dos Cabezas region, a California State Parks spokesperson said.
A sheriff’s helicopter located the body near Mortero Wash, approximately a quarter mile from the hiker’s vehicle, officials said.
The hiker’s name was not released. His cause of death will be determined by the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
