'It's just amazing': Angler reflects on this week's 'jubilee' fishing phenomenon in Point Clear

POINT CLEAR, Ala. (WKRG) — A fisherman in Point Clear Monday witnessed a natural phenomenon — a jubilee.

News 5 viewer, Jake Markris, was there to witness the event. He sent WKRG News 5 videos of the jubilee.

"It's just amazing to witness one of these phenomenons," said Markris. "No matter how many I see they just amaze me every time."

A jubilee happens when water is deprived of oxygen and sea creatures wash ashore.

In June, participants of a jubilee in Point Clear were ticketed. Marine Resource officers said there are rules and regulations to adhere to if anyone plans on taking seafood from a jubilee.
