IU takes down Alabama to win the Rose Bowl, advance in CFP

PASADENA, Calif. (WISH) — IU beat Alabama in the Rose Bowl, 38-3, to advance in the College Football Playoff.

This is the Hoosiers’ first Rose Bowl win in program history, and the program’s first bowl win since 1991.

Fernando Mendoza was 14-for-16 passing for 192 yards and three touchdowns.

Kaelon Black led the Hoosiers on the ground with 15 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown.

Five Hoosiers (Charlie Becker, Omar Cooper Jr., Elijah Sarratt, Black, and Roman Hemby) scored touchdowns in the victory.

IU center Pat Coogan was named the Offensive Player of the Game and cornerback D’Angelo Ponds was named the Defensive Player of the Game.

Next up for IU is a rematch with Oregon in the Peach Bowl in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.
