MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- New York Knicks standout Jalen Brunson stands out even more after his team named him captain of New York's longest-standing basketball team.
It became official at a formal ceremony on Thursday on the floor of Madison Square Garden, attended by some Knicks legends, including former captain Patrick Ewing.
Brunson, though, was the star. When the Knicks announcer introduced the point guard at the ceremony, out he came, walking a gauntlet of jersey-wearing Knicks fans.
He low-fived them, as he usually does on his way to the court. This time, though, he wore a black wool suit with white pinstripes rather than his Knicks uniform. He did one thing, though, the way he always does when he plays: he carried himself with humble confidence.
"Seeing a lot of faces I did not think I would see today," Brunson said as he looked at the assembled group of boldfaced names, including Knicks owner James Dolan and two-time inductee to the Basketball Hall of Fame Patrick Ewing.
"It's pretty remarkable," Brunson said.
