JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft filed a lawsuit Wednesday against Joe Biden's administration over an executive order that promotes access to voter registration.
U.S. President Joe Biden signed the executive order in 2021, which calls for federal agencies to promote voter registration and participation through methods that are "appropriate and consistent with applicable law." The order called for websites, online forms, social media platforms and other resources to expand access to information to register to vote.
With his lawsuit, Ashcroft argues that the order represents federal overreach and violates the principles within the U.S. Constitution.
