JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. - The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged a House Springs woman with piercing another woman in the throat with a knife.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff, Melissa M. Herrmann (age not provided) approached the woman from behind and used an edge weapon to lacerate her throat.
Police said Herrmann and the woman were socializing behind a business in the 1000 block of Crossroads Place in High Ridge, Missouri, on July 7. The woman had bent down to zip up a bag when Herrmann approached her with the weapon.
According to the police, there was no prior argument, fight, or provoking that led to the assault.
Video surveillance from the business shows the woman bleeding from her neck and leaving her bag behind as she moved toward the entrance of the business to call 911. Hermann followed the woman and threw the knife at her, but missed as the victim watched the knife strike the ground near her.
The victim left the business on foot and was found by a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputy, who found her bleeding from the neck. The woman later received stitches for the lacerations.
While being interviewed by police, Herrmann denied being involved with the assault.
