BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- The Juniata Valley Council of Scouting America is hosting a "Scouting Showcase," which will showcase a wide variety of scouting skills.
This free event, held at the Legion Park in Hollidaysburg from 4:30-8 p.m. on Aug. 15, will offer free food, door prizes and the outdoor experiences of a scout.
There will be hands-on activities related to camping, tomahawk throwing, lessons on knots and lashings, orienteering, geocaching and rain gutter races. There are scouting programs for all youth from Kindergarten through 20-years-old.
There will also be a chance to meet a real Eagle Scout and get a tour of a tepee. The scouting experience teaches problem-solving skills, instills good character and helps youth develop into self-confident young adults, according to the Scouting America.
Leaders from all types of scouting units will be on hand to answer any questions that parents and youth have about the Scouting America program.
