DENVER (KDVR) — A jury will soon decide the fate of a former cardiologist accused of drugging and sexually assaulting 11 women he primarily met on dating apps.
Stephen Matthews was arrested last year. His monthlong trial wrapped up Thursday with closing arguments.
The former doctor is charged with 38 counts relating to what the prosecution said were patterns of alleged sexual assaults. The prosecution says the alleged assaults spanned 2019-23, and victims believed they were drugged.
During closing arguments, the prosecution recounted testimony from alleged victims during the trial along with text messages, pictures and videos displayed on a projector, painting a picture of what they call a disturbing pattern.
