LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – If you've ever needed a ride around Little Rock, you may have used a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, but a sometimes-forgotten method is hailing a cab.

The Little Rock Board of Directors voted on Tuesday to increase taxi meter rates on the cabs in the city. Officials said the new fares are aimed at helping with the cost of living.

Braxton Anderson, the general manager of Little Rock’s only taxi service zTrip, said the meter rate hasn't increased in around 14 years.

“Due to inflation, our drivers aren't making as much money,” Anderson said.

There is a fee to get the cab but one of the increases comes every eighth of a mile.

“It was 25 cents and it just got approved for 32 cents,” Anderson said.
