LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A Little Rock family felt the effects of Tropical Storm Beryl firsthand on Sunday as they prepared to board a cruise ship leaving from Galveston, Texas.
Makenzie Dellinger and her family thought they were headed for a week of relaxation but were met with the opposite. Even before boarding the ship, Dellinger said she saw Beryl in full force when the lifeguards on the beach were scrambling to prepare for the storm.
She also expressed concern about the full force of the storm and what was yet to come.
"I was feeling more for the people in Galveston because I was like what's this about to do for these people's homes," Dellinger said.
Once Dellinger was on the cruise ship, the waves showed no signs of mercy, as she described them as "really high" and even making her sick. She said crashing waves and high winds even affected the top deck of the ship, leading passengers to be restricted from the top deck.
