CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- A Brooklyn man is facing charges after throwing an explosive at a Verizon van and injuring utility workers in a case of road rage, according to attorneys.
Surveillance video shows Kevindale Nurse, 36, pulling up next to the utility van at the intersection of President Street and Brooklyn Avenue on the evening of January 31. Investigators say that’s when he threw a powerful firework into the driver side window, torching the van and leaving the two Verizon repairmen with multiple injuries.
Just before the incident, Nurse was seen cutting off the Verizon van with his a white minibus, known as a commuter “dollar van,” according to court filings. The events all unfolded in front of Nurse’s 4-year-old son.
“Unfortunately, road rage is an all-too common occurrence in our communities. But this dangerous and senseless attack on a busy intersection in the heart of Brooklyn was beyond the pale. We will vigorously prosecute this case,” said United States Attorney Breon Peace.
