SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A 44-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car early Monday morning in Lemon Grove and authorities are investigating it as a possible homicide.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Office reports deputies received calls at 2:15 a.m. Monday for a hit and run in the 8200 block of Broadway in Lemon Grove. When they arrived, deputies found a 44-year-old white man lying in the center lane in the 8300 block of Broadway.
The sheriff's office says the victim was conscious and breathing when deputies arrived and reports he was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene described to law enforcement that a man was standing in the road speaking to the occupants of a vehicle when, for reasons unknown to police at this time, the vehicle reportedly accelerated, intentionally hitting the man, and left the scene, according to the sheriff's office.
