Man stabbed at Manhattan subway station during unprovoked attack: NYPD

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A man was stabbed in an unprovoked attack inside a Manhattan subway station on Tuesday morning, according to police. 

The attack occurred just after 2:00 a.m., police said. The victim was walking from Tompkins Square Park in the East Village to Delancy Street-Essex Street subway station when he was approached from behind and stabbed multiple times in the back, unprovoked, according to authorities.

The victim rode the subway to Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike station, where he was found by police on a subway bench, authorities said.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he is expected to survive his injuries, police said. 

It remains unclear if the assailant was a man or a woman.
