MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The City of Midland announced that for the first time in history, the Midland International Air & Space Port topped the 70,000-passenger barrier in one month.
According to the City of Midlands report, in June, 70,340 passengers boarded with Southwest Airlines, American Eagle, United, or Delta.
The City stated that this is the first time in Midland's history that this number of passengers have boarded an airline in one month. The total was stated to not only be 14.25% higher than in June 2023 but also topped the 70,000-passenger barrier.
The Midland International Air and Space Port information also stated that a new record for passengers in a year is likely.
According to official reports, the City of Midland has a total of 545,674 passengers through nine months of this fiscal year, which is already 60,000 passengers (12.49%) higher.
Additionally, the Midland airport also reported that fuel and parking sales in June and throughout this year have also increased.
The City of Midland showed $744,073 in net parking revenues, which is 17.76% higher than June 2023, and that more than $6 million has already been collected this fiscal year – a 15.67% increase compared to the first nine months of fiscal year 2023.
