MISD approves new Long Elementary principal

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - The Midland ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve Pedro Covarrubias as the new principal for Long Elementary School at Tuesday's Board meeting.

Covarrubias served as the assistant principal of De Zavala Elementary for the past two years and was an MCL for two years. MISD said he demonstrates many strengths and has a successful track record as an instructional leader, helping to lead a team out of Improvement Required status with his mentoring, coaching, and support. 

The district said Covarrubias has strong communication skills that facilitate clear and open dialogue among all stakeholders, promoting transparency and accountability.
