MISD votes to renew Astound Broadband Stadium lease

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - At Tuesday's meeting, the Midland ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the lease renewal between the school district and the City of Midland for the use of Astound Broadband Stadium through the 2028-29 school year. MISD said this will provide a "buffer year" after the opening of the two new high schools to evaluate the uses of the stadium.

The new contract establishes an annual rent of $150,000 per year with an increase of $15,000 per year through the 2028-29 school year, factoring inflation.

The new agreement also specifies the City as responsible for keeping the elevator in "good working order" and replacing the playing surface at regular intervals. MISD also said that it now has the right to mount previously purchased signage in two highly visible locations and oversee signage and ads on video boards.
