Mission to receive two affordable housing apartment complexes

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) - The Mission Housing Authority just announced its plans to fund two new apartments in the city.

Many people in Mission are calling for better rent in the area. Arnold Padilla with the Mission Housing Authority says the two new apartments they are building will answer this call.

"Right now, we have difficulty with our families going out to try and find affordable housing units and unable to.”

The apartments have already begun construction across the street from the Mission Police Station and are funded by $40 million in housing tax credits from 2023 to 2024.

Arnold Padilla laid out the plans in detail saying, “We were awarded a $20 million award in 2023. That’s going to build the first portion of the development it’s a 100-unit multifamily development and then this current year, two weeks ago, we received another $20 million award from the Texas Department of Housing Community Affairs for what we’re going to build is a senior development.”
