MONTICELLO, Ark. – A Monticello city councilman is facing domestic battery charges after an arrest Tuesday night.
Authorities say at 7:18 p.m. on Tuesday city councilman Mark Tiner's wife called them to their home after she claimed he threw a chainsaw at her and pushed her to the ground.
According to a police report, Tiner's wife was trying to get to his phone because she believed he was being secretive.
Police say Tiner admitted to throwing a chainsaw in his wife's direction while it was off out of anger. Tiner told police he took the phone out of her hand before pushing her to the ground.
Officers said they observed a red scrape on the wife's kneecap and a long red mark from one of her elbows to her shoulder.
Mark Tiner was taken to the Drew County Detention Facility half an hour after officers arrived and was released by 8 p.m. Authorities said he is facing charges of third-degree domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
