Motorcyclist dies in crash after allegedly fleeing Texarkana officer

TEXARKANA, Ark. (KTAL/KMSS) – Arkansas State Police are investigating a high-speed pursuit that caused a road fatality early Sunday morning.

A news release from the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department detailed the incident that started on July 21 just after 1 am. Officers attempted a traffic stop on three motorcycles in the 3600 block of Arkansas Boulevard.

The drivers of the motorcycles fled the officer who pursued them. As one of the motorcycles entered the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Arkansas Boulevard, it collided with a passenger vehicle that was not involved in the pursuit.

The collision caused the driver to be ejected from the motorcycle and they were pronounced dead at the Saint Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. The driver of the passenger vehicle was treated at the scene for minor cuts and bruises.

The other motorcyclists involved in the pursuit that led to this fatality have not been arrested at this time.

Arkansas State Police are the investigative agency and the deceased was not identified at the time of publication.
