SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A multi-vehicle collision has prompted a full closure of southbound State Route 163 in the Kearny Mesa area, said Caltrans.
According to a SigAlert from California Highway Patrol, the incident was first reported around 1:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Roughly 30 minutes later, Caltrans announced all lanes were blocked in the impacted area, which is located slightly north of Interstate 805. The crash site is near the overpass.
CHP noted that traffic is being diverted to southbound I-805 at this time, and the closure is expected to last for several hours as the accident may be fatal.
