Name released in fatal crash near Beresford

SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) -- The name has been released in a deadly crash that happened Friday morning northeast of Beresford.

According to a news release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, Darrian O’Neal Cline, of Smithville, Oklahoma, was the driver of a 2019 Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound on 294^th Street near 474^th Avenue. At the same time, the driver of a Volvo Semi was traveling westbound on 294^th Street.

Officals said "for an unknown reason," the Jeep crossed the center line into the westbound lanes and struck the semi head-on.

Cline was not wearing a seatbelt and died from the crash. The driver of the semi truck sustained minor injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
