NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WISH) — Residents of the Fosters Landing Apartment complex returned to their units Friday in New Castle after a mandatory evacuation forced everyone out during the peak of Wednesday’s flooding.

Emergency crews rescued more than 120 residents, and 90 units sat empty while the water rose.

Connie Porter, who has lived at Fosters Landing for six years, said water rushed into her unit quickly. She found 8 inches of standing water in her apartment. Porter began cleaning Friday, though she is unsure when she can move back in.
