New Jersey scraps school supply tax holiday; shoppers face price increase

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – New Jersey has no school supply discount this year.

Gov. Phil Murphy signed a repeal of the annual tax holiday into law without explanation.

More Local News

In 2022 and 2023, you could buy computers, school supplies and sports equipment during the tax holiday – which meant you didn't have to pay sales tax.

Books and supplies currently cost 1.33% more than what they cost last August.
