DENVER (KDVR) — A new report shows the number of abortions across the U.S. continues to rise following the Dobbs decision in 2022, and Colorado is no exception to the trend.
The report from the Society of Family Planning shows that 14,000 more abortions were performed nationwide in the first three months of 2024 compared to 2023. Colorado is also seeing a steady number of abortions in the wake of the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, with 6,500 abortions in Colorado in the first three months of 2024.
The new numbers are being revealed as the topic of abortion resurfaces on the campaign trail. Former President Donald Trump said at a press conference on Thursday that he thinks Americans have moved past the issue.
"The abortion issue has been taken down many notches. I don't think it's a big factor anymore, really," Trump said. "We brought it back to the states, everybody wanted it in the states."
