INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A female inmate being held in the Marion County jail died of natural causes Thursday morning, according to a release from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say they found Jacqueline Denise Sublett, 58, unresponsive in her cell at 6:10 a.m. Thursday.
The deputies and medics rendered aid to Sublett, though she was later pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m. Investigators believe that the death was due to natural causes and no foul play is suspected.
Sublett has been in jail since in August 2025 on a warrant for battery.
This incident is being investigated by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Forensic Services Agency, the Marion County Coroner’s Office and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
There was an attorney’s meeting scheduled for Sublett’s case on Jan. 20.
