NWS confirms tornado hit Harrisburg area

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -- The National Weather Service at State College confirmed an EF1 tornado moved through Harrisburg and its eastern suburbs Friday morning.

The tornado had estimated peak winds of 105 miles and was on the ground for about 3 1/2 miles, touching down near the Inclinator Company and lifting off near the Pennsylvania State Police headquarters on Elmerton Avenue.

It touched down around 4:33 a.m. and was 300 yards wide at its widest.
