NEW YORK (PIX11) – Checks are on their way to over 1 million New York state families with children receiving financial help, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul.
The first round of checks was sent out Monday morning. Low- to moderate-income families could get up to $330 per child if they received an Empire State Child Credit of at least $100 after 2023 taxes were filed this year.
Families who received the credit don't have to do anything to get the one-time supplemental payment, according to Hochul. The payment ranges from 25-100% of what families received from their Empire State Child Credit.
More than 100,000 checks will be mailed per day to make sure families receive their supplemental payments, according to Hochul.
Around $350 million is being given out in total.
