YONKERS, NY – The investigation into a body found on the Oak Street bridge in Yonkers has been officially transferred to the New York City Police Department following initial findings by the Yonkers Police Department.
The discovery occurred just before 2:00 am on August 5, initially reported as a fire near the jurisdictional border with Mt. Vernon.
Westchester County Public Safety officers and the Mount Vernon Fire Department extinguished the fire and found a lifeless body in a shopping cart on the sidewalk. Yonkers Police, who were first on the scene, confirmed the body had been intentionally set on fire.
