ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - Odessa College held a "Stories in the Park" event on Friday, as part of its summer series.

The College said educators go to the OC Downtown area, read books to kids, and let them play so their minds are happy and hard at work during the summer.

"Well, we are really big on doing things for the community at Odessa College, so we wanted to continue that this summer and just bring the community out, provide a free community event, and just have some fun," said Roxanne Chapa with Odessa College.

There were fun activities for kids of all ages, with the main event being a "Design Your Own Rescue Vehicle" experience to honor the first responders who stopped for a visit.

If you missed this one, OC said there will be another "Stories in the Park" on July 12.
