Odessa man sentenced to 30 years in prison for January carjacking

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- An Odessa man was sentenced in a Midland federal court to 30 years in prison for carjacking a couple earlier this year.

38-year-old Isaac Ramirez Carrasco was arrested on January 30 after the Odessa Police Department responded to the parking lot of a bank located in the 2700 block of N County Road West after a couple called 911 and said they'd been robbed at gunpoint.

At the scene, investigators met with the victims who said they were sitting in their vehicle, a GMC K1500, parked near the bank when an unknown man approached them while holding a shotgun. 

The couple said that man, later identified as Carrasco, told them to exit their vehicle; when they refused, the victims said Carrasco raised his firearm and fired a single shot into the air. Carrasco then aimed his gun at the couple and again demanded that they exit the vehicle. This time, the couple complied and said Carrasco then entered their truck and drove away.
