SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Are you a taxpayer in San Diego County? There may be some extra money that belongs to you.

San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister is looking to return $867,171 in unclaimed funds to those owed money from warrants/checks that were undeliverable by the postal service; overpaid taxes; or individual and organizations doing business with or receiving County services.

Refunds range from $15 to $25,118.40, according to McAllister.

“We want all of this money returned to San Diegans, so please tell your friends and family to go to sdttc.com to check the unclaimed money list,” McAllister said.

Countywide money that is unclaimed for three years and property tax refunds that are unclaimed for four years must be turned over to the county's general fund, per California's state law.

You can file a refund claim before it is rolled into the general fund by Sept. 22. Email claims to  Read Entire Article
