SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The San Diego Padres have chosen a 19-year-old high schooler from Oklahoma as their 2024 first-round pick.
With the 25th pick in the 2024 MLB draft, the San Diego Padres have drafted Kash Mayfield, a 19-year-old lefty pitcher from Elk City High School in Oklahoma.
The 6'4" player's approximate pick value is $3.44 million, according to MLB.com, and is one of the top high school lefties in the 2024 Draft class.
Mayfield was the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year and MaxPreps Player of the Year.
Sunday is Day One of the MLB draft, which includes the first 74 selections in Rounds 1 and 2. The Guardians chose Travis Bazzana from Oregon State as the No. 1 overall pick.
