PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) -- While the United States reduced unemployment to record lows last year, some states have seen an uptick in unemployment claims - with Pennsylvania being one of them.
To identify where unemployment claims are increasing the most, WalletHub compared every state based on the changes in unemployment claims for several key "benchmark" weeks. Another factor considered was the number of claims per 100,000 people in the labor force.
How does Pennsylvania rank up against the other states?
The Commonwealth came in at 14th place on the scale, with 10 claims per 100,000 people in the labor force. Percentage wise, from 2023 to 2024, Pa. saw a 7.24% increase in unemployment claims.
