Pine Bluff police arrest man accused of deadly early morning shooting

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Police say an early morning argument between two men in Pine Bluff ended in gunshots with one man dead and another man in jail.

Officials with the Pine Bluff Police Department said officers responded to the area of 23rd Ave. and Hazel St. just before 2 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the area and were then directed a block east to 23rd and S. Spruce Street on a report of a shooting.

When the officers arrived, they said they found 30-year-old Jaelin Scott lying in the street unresponsive and with a gunshot wound. The Jefferson County Coroner was called to the scene and Scott was pronounced dead.

Investigators said witnesses told them Scott had been arguing with another man, later identified as 30-year-old Devantre Daniels. Detectives said shots were fired during the argument, at which point officers said Daniels drove away from the scene.
