SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) -- Construction on the new clubhouse at the Elmwood golf course was expected to begin in the spring of 2024 leaving many wondering what the holdup is.
At the city council meeting Tuesday, Councilor Curt Soehl highlighted the money tied to the Elmwood Golf Course. The city council needs to approve $6.2 million for a new clubhouse.
"We don't have $6.2 million allocated, we only have $4.2 million allocated for this," Soehl said during the meeting.
Don Kearney, Director of Parks & Recreation, responded by saying inflation has led to an increase in price. Kearney said the project was budgeted in 2022 and the city has seen non-residential construction inflation of 20%.
"That's where we are at with this project with costs well above what we originally projected," Kearney said during the City Council Meeting.
