LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Lubbock Police Department released a statement on Sunday after a newborn baby was found in a dumpster early Saturday morning near 4th Street and Cherry Avenue.
LPD previously asked for the public's help in locating the mother of the baby that was found around 4:00 a.m. Saturday. Due to the status of the investigation, LPD said it will not comment on the health of the newborn at this time.
A statement said authorities are grateful for the concern and support for the baby. Police asked the public to use the "same focus and determination to help investigators identify and locate the mother."
