PSU Altoona vision for 2030: enrollment, diversity and sports

ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) – Penn State Altoona leaders have a 2030 vision for the Commonwealth campus: increased enrollment, campus diversity and new sports programs including golf, track and field, cross-country, field hockey and lacrosse.

Dean Ron Darbeau, Chancellor for Penn State Altoona, shared several ongoing initiatives and other plans during the University's Board of Trustees meeting on July 19.

“It’s a roadmap for where we want the campus to be by the end of the decade,” he said.

Enrollment

Currently, Penn State Altoona enrollment is approximately 2,500 students, spread across 21 bachelor's degrees and five associate degrees.

The goal by 2030 is to increase enrollment up to 1,000 students by enhancing existing academic programs, adding master’s degrees, and growing international enrollment.

Darbeau explained that students tend to gravitate toward business, education, engineering and nursing degree programs.
