UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WTAJ) — Nearly a year after a parking deck was damaged on Penn State University Park's Campus, more spots are set to reopen.
On Aug. 16, 2023, Eisenhower Deck closed due to a sinkhole being discovered underneath a pillar. Two days later, the deck partially reopened, and on Monday, Aug. 5, the deck will reopen approximately 670 spots.
Penn State said this partial reopening comes after a successful reconstruction of the damaged section in the deck.
With the reopening, all summer supplementary parking permits that were issued for Yellow F permit holders will expire, and access to East Deck, Yellow H and Lot 42 will no longer be available.
PSU said there are still 300 spaces in Eisenhower Deck and the Yellow F surface parking lot that are expected to be available before the end of September, pending construction and weather delays.
