SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Nurses at Rady Children's Hospital are moving forward with a two-day strike later this month after negotiations over their latest labor contract reached an impasse.
The union representing the nurses, United Nurses of Children's Hospital (UNOCH) Local 1699, announced the strike on Thursday, less than a day after the most recent contract offered by the hospital was overwhelmingly voted down due to issues with the suggested wages and benefits.
When the some 1,600 unionized nurses walk off the job beginning on July 22, it will mark the first time UNOCH Local 1699 has hit the picket lines in response to contract negotiations.
