MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - According to multiple reports, former Midland RockHounds Jacob Wilson is being called up by the Oakland Athletics after just 72 games in the minor leagues.
Wilson began his season playing for the RockHounds (Double-A) before being promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas in May.
While in Midland, Wilson led the team in many offensive categories including doubles (13), on-base percentage (.473), OPS (1.178), batting average, hits (40) and RBI (19).
Wilson is the 50th-overall MLB prospect and Oakland's No. 1 overall prospect.
Wilson joins an elite club of former RockHounds in recent history who are now rostered members of the A's including Lawrence Butler, Joey Estes, Brady Basso, Nick Allen, Max Schuemann and more.
Wilson is expected to make his major league debut Friday when the A's take on the Angels. That game starts at 8:40 p.m. CT.
