BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Court officials confirmed Friday that retired Judge J. Michael McDonald will temporarily take over 19th Judicial District Eboni Johnson Rose's seat starting Monday, Aug. 12 after she was removed from the bench.
He will sit on the bench until Sept. 30.
The Louisiana Supreme Court removed Johnson Rose from the bench and wrote she "poses a substantial threat of serious harm to the public and the administration of justice.” The move was approved 5-2.
Her rulings on several cases have been questioned including one involving a former Baton Rouge police officer.
Although removed from the bench, she will stay on the ballot for the 1st Circuit Court of Appeal seat unless disqualified or an objection for candidacy is filed.
