HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -- Following its latest bankruptcy court filing Friday, Rite Aid has now closed or announced the impending closures of 778 stores, or 38% of the stores it operated before filing for bankruptcy in October 2023.

The latest closures -- 33 Friday and 84 during the past two weeks -- mean the chain will have soon closed 95% of the stores it operated in Michigan and 93% of the stores it operated in Ohio, leaving about a dozen stores each in what were previously its fourth and fifth biggest markets, based on an abc27 analysis of court filings and Scrapehero data.

The 84 recently-announced closures include 47 in Michigan, 35 in Ohio and one each in California and Washington state.
