RSL loses Rocky Mountain Cup to Colorado, 3-2

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (ABC4 Sports) - It took longer than expected, but the Rocky Mountain Cup is headed back to Colorado.

For the first time in a non-Covid year since 2015, the Colorado Rapids win the rivalry series over Real Salt Lake with a dramatic 3-2 victory Saturday night. RSL and the Rapids had split its previous two meetings in the series.

Cole Bassett scored on a penalty kick in the 89th minute to lift the Colorado Rapids to a weather-delayed 3-2 victory over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.

Bassett was fouled by Justen Glad and delivered the winning kick, beating RSL goalkeeper Gavin Beavers to the top center.

Andrés Gómez came off a yellow card suspension to score two goals for his fourth brace of the season for Real Salt Lake, giving him 13 for the season, four behind leading scorer Chicho Arango.
