DENVER (KDVR) — An additional $23 million of funding has been allocated for RTD's Bus Rapid Transit project on East Colfax Avenue, which aims to bring faster bus service between Denver and Aurora.
The Federal Transit Administration notified the Regional Transportation District last week about the funds. That brings the total federal funding to $150 million, which is the maximum allowed in the discretionary grant category.
RTD is working with the cities of Denver and Aurora to bring the new transit option to East Colfax. The project will create a 9.9-mile corridor from Denver's Union Station to Colfax Station, near Interstate 225 in Aurora, where the BRT will connect to the R Line's light rail service.
