Russellville High School Quiz Bowl team celebrates first national championship win

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – A group of some of the smartest students in Arkansas proved this year they are also the smartest in the country.

Russellville High School's Quiz Bowl program won its first-ever national title at the National Academic Championship tournament on Father's Day.

For Russellville teams to even compete in the national tournament they had to be in the top 15% of Arkansas teams, and then one team consisting of Will Stump, Keegan Fuller, Ian Warnick, Matthew Fox, Gidian Fuller and Alyx Dunaway had to outscore about another 70 teams to claim this title.

"Everyone who played in this national tournament was sophomores when we played,” Stump said. “We'll be juniors next year, so we can probably win it again.”
