SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) -- The decade-old stations used by drivers parking on Salt Lake City's streets are getting a much-needed facelift, bringing more conveniences to parking in the city.
The new pay station machines will feature several upgrades, according to Salt Lake City officials, including touch screens, multiple language options, and tap-to-pay through Apple and Google Pay. City visitors will still be able to pay for parking with cash, coins, physical credit cards, or through the ParkSLC mobile app.
Nearly 270 pay-to-park stations will be replaced throughout the fall season, starting on Monday, Aug. 12. Salt Lake City expects all machines to be upgraded by Thursday, Oct. 3.
Salt Lake City officials assured Utahns that parking rates would not be changing as part of the upgrade.
