McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The General Consulate of El Salvador in McAllen hosted a ceremony to unveil and donate of a significant piece of artwork to the McAllen International Airport.
The event aimed to celebrate the cultural ties between El Salvador and the local community of McAllen. The art showcased the rich artistic heritage of El Salvador and how it influences the Valley.
City of McAllen officials, Cindy Mariella Portal, Viceministra de Dispora y Movilidad Humana del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de El Salvador, as well as McAllen International Airport Director of Aviation, Jeremy Santoscoy, P.E. spoke at the event.
The donated artwork, was created by Salvadoran artist David Duke. It embodies the vibrant spirit and cultural identity of El Salvador.
Attendees had the opportunity to view the artwork in person.
"This donation is a gesture of goodwill and a symbol of the enduring friendship between El Salvador and the City of McAllen," the city stated.
