SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The Fourth of July has arrived in San Diego, and it sure has brought the crowds, especially to the coast.
All San Diego beach parking lots reached capacity by late morning, the San Diego Police Department said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 10:39 a.m.
As of 2 p.m., Fiesta Island was also at full capacity and has closed to additional vehicle traffic entering the island, according to authorities.
"Vehicles that leave the island will not be allowed back onto the island. We will continue to reevaluate congestion on the island throughout the day," SDPD said.
The beaches are a popular spot for travelers during the holiday to escape the heat.
Later Thursday evening, traffic will get even worse in areas like Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Coronado Ferry Landing, North Embarcadero and the Marina District as the Big Bay Boom kicks...
