San Diego man arrested in connection with girlfriend’s death

A San Diego man has been arrested in connection with the suspected killing of his girlfriend, police said.

Jose Manuel Casteneda, 38, was arrested Saturday morning at the Colina Del Sol apartment he shared with his now deceased girlfriend, the San Diego Police Department said.

Police said they received a call around 3:50 a.m. from Casteneda reporting an unresponsive woman at his apartment near the intersection of 54th Street and Trojan Avenue.

Officers responded and found a woman in her thirties with injuries to her face, as well as blood around several areas inside of a small apartment. Police said the woman was taken to the hospital where she died.

Casteneda will be charged with the murder, police said.
